WOODRIDGE, IL- Coming off a heartbreaking loss on opening night to the White Eagles, the Bulldogs tried to shake off the defeat by facing one of the top teams in the league, Bada Bing. However, they looked flat, out of sync and uninspired, losing 6-3.

The Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 after a lackluster first period. They narrowed the gap to 2-1 in the second period on a goal by Scott Gaczorek that seemed to momentarily, build some momentum. It didn’t take long for Bada Bing to answer with a couple more goals. The ‘Dogs’, never came close to threatening again, despite late goals from defensemen Joe Koehler and Mitch LaBuda.

“Not the best game to say the least” said goalie Alex Martinez. “At least we know we can still hang in this league with the guys we have. It probably would have helped if certain players were not hung over and if I made a few more saves. We were missing a couple guys, including a no-show. We will deal with those issues behind closed doors. There is plenty of hockey left, and we just have to move forward.”

To make matters worse, the game ended with a scuffle and a couple of cheap shot punches by Bada Bing on Joey F.V., who’s only crime was getting caught in the middle as a peacekeeper.

The punches escalated into a full fledged fight between both goalies, Martinez and Ken Heuger, which eventually included participation from members of Heuger’s inbred family, who ran from the stands to the locker room.

“Heuger was really embarrassed after the refs knocked him backwards, and his face got caught in his jersey” said one fan. “He was trying to avenge his embarrassment by finding a fight. After all of the teams neared the locker rooms he and his family wanted to pick a fight with every Bulldog coming off of the ice.”

“His fugly ass sister and his 65 year old, cracker-ass daddy tried to get their drunken asses involved in the fight too” joked Koehler. “No wonder he showed great enthusiasm. If I had a hillbilly family backing me up, I’d start a fight too.”

At 0-2, the Bulldogs fall to the bottom of the standings. If things don’t improve quickly, they could be seeing a lot of time in the cellar.

The Good:
  • Defense: Despite being badly outplayed by ‘Bada Bing’, the Bulldog defense deserves kudos for keeping the margin close.
  • Debut: Future Hall of Famer, Alex Martinez Jr. made his debut for the Bulldogs.
The Bad:
  • Offense: In two games this season, the offense has managed just one goal and no assists.
  • MIA: Where were the missing players?
The Ugly:
  • Bada Bing goalie Ken Heuger and family. What happens on the ice stays on the ice. If you can’t control yourself from acting like a fool on and off the ice, or stop your family of drunkards from joining you for a night of redneck ‘rasslin’, find another sport.

Player(s) of the Game:

  • The Bulldogs defense of LaBuda, Koehler and Markos accounted for two goals and two assists. They also played solid defense, despite a three man rotation.
ESPN Hit of the Week:
  • Joey F.V. retaliatory hit on an innocent ‘Binger’ during the end of the game scuffle. Joey was hit in the back of the head by a cheap shot. Nevertheless, he didn’t care who threw the punch he hit the first available player within reach.
Next up: Wednesday February 3, 2010 10:30PM vs. Demons, at Addison Ice Arena.
