Chicago Bulldogs 6, Ice Pack 2

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 FINAL @ Oakton Ice Arena | Box Score

Park Ridge, IL- Better late than never, here it is, last Wednesday nights action packed game recap, news and notes from yours truly!

Now for the record please be advised in advance that our Editor in Chief is NOT in town, but like the Marines we pee on dead Taliban corpes, opps I mean we improvise, overcome and adapt.

Anyway, Last Wednesday night the Chicago Bulldogs took on the Ice Pack at the Oakton Ice Arena in Park Ridge, IL. The last time these two teams butted heads the Ice Pack defeated the ‘Dogs 7-2. However, the last game the Bulldogs played something that laid dormant had finally awakened. The Bulldogs showed heart, persistence and motivation. Although they lost that game, they brought the beast within to face another tough match against the Ice Pack. The battle had to commence without team captain Maher Karim as Jason Darfler took the helm for the night.

Darlfer, a former Bulldog team captain who led the team to a couple victorious seasons in the past had taken some time off to find “Jesus”. Since finally finding Jesus working at the local “El Famous Burrito”, Darfler has been back working his way up again. This past Wednesday night we saw the Darfler of old setting up lines and using an aggressive offensive playbook. This along with the heart and hustle the Chicago Bulldogs managed to defeat the Ice Pack 6-2.

Defenseman Ted Markos, with his new elbow pads (see article (Rest in Peace My Precious), managed to pull off a hat trick and put him on the top as Bulldogs top scorer. We also saw great effort from winger James Senne as he scored two goals for the night and Darfler managed to execute a well timed power play goal.

Goaltender Alex Martinez managed to make some spectacular saves of the night by only allowing two goals. However, one that managed pass Martinez was due to a fluke. The Ice Pack managed to put some offensive pressure on the ‘Dogs in the defensive zone, Martinez made a low poke check on one of the Ice Pack wingers, ended losing his stick. As the puck was being fought for in the corner Marcos picked up Martinez’s stick and tried blindingly handing it to Martinez. With his back to the goalie Markos poked Martinez in the mask a couple times and blocked his sight of the puck. An Ice Pack player managed to come out with the puck and drilled one past Martinez on the open side. Aside from the almost comical moment the Bulldogs celebrated the night with a victory that pulled them out of last place.

As the regular season nears its end and the upcoming playoffs the Bulldogs are hoping to make a big turnaround with high morale and aggressive play. Stay tuned as they try to overcome the Sharks next Wednesday, January 25TH at the Hoffman Estates Ice Arena.
