Chicago Bulldogs 1, Chiefs 7 Thursday, July 29th, 2011 FINAL @ The Darien Sportsplex Darien, IL- “No Bark, All Bite” is the motto the Chicago Bulldogs Hockey organization has been chest pounding since 2004. Although realistically perhaps they should change it to something like “not all that great at hockey”. Listen, I’m not going to try to sugar coat this or spin a yarn to somehow capture how epic this game was. That would be a waste of time. Here is the game in a nutshell. We score. They score. They score. They score. End of first period. They score. They score. AGAIN! A comeback!? No. Chiefs win 7-1 So, in lieu of that, I thought I’d tell you another story from my home country in the Philippines. It’s about a boy who was born without a body. He was just a head. His mother would put him on the window sill, so he could spend his days watching the boys and girls out front of his house playing soccer. The days went by, until finally one day, a medical miracle! Doctors were able to graft the boys head onto a body. Months of rehab went by, until one day, not only could he walk, but he could run, jump and play. Out the door he went with his brand new body to play soccer with the neighborhood kids. The smile on his face was almost a permanent fixture, as he kicked the ball back and forth with his new friends. Still a little unfamiliar with his new body and his coordination not quite being up to snuff, the boy kicked the ball too hard, and it went flying across the street onto Mrs. Aquino’s front yard. The little boy yelled “I’ll get it”, and without a thought or care in the world, ran into the street to get the ball... where he was immediately hit by a car and died. The moral of the story? Quit while you’re a head. This is what the Bulldogs should do OR get back to playing physical hockey. Quote of the Week: “It's just annoying losing to the Chiefs and the Bisons, so that 15 year old deserved to get knocked down. Besides, he shouldn't be playing in the league. -#32 Tom Mitroz
