Koehler: 'Anything can happen now' |

Chicago, IL- Placing last and upsetting the Palm Beavers and now being huge underdogs vs. the Blades of Steel is not bothering him, Chicago Bulldogs captain Joe Koehler. In fact Koehler has a funny way of showing it because he is definitely not at a loss for words.
Koehler, known in these parts as "Captain Serious," is always one of the media's go-to players in the Bulldogs dressing room following a game because it's his responsibility as the team captain to speak for his club. Koehler has not disappointed with his words yet, and he was particularly on his game with a victory over the Palm Beavers this past Tuesday night...
Here is a small sampling of what he had to say:
Q: What were your thoughts on the changes the Palm Beavers made, specifically bringing in a “Ringer”?
Koehler: It's easy to get caught up in what they're trying to do. Obviously they're trying to change things up as a team, but we said you know what, to heck with what they're doing. Their strategy might change, but it doesn't mean ours will. We went into this game with the same mentality that we wanted to have a great start and work as hard as we did in previous games. You had to imagine tonight was going to be a tighter game than the last couple. Again, this is playoff hockey and you've got to find a way. We've been real tough to play against. It's been awesome.
Q: Now that you've come back and made it through the first round of playoffs, can you describe the feeling considering all of your ups and downs during the regular season?
Koehler: We just have to feel like things are going to go our way. We have to feel like it's meant to be. We have a great feeling in this locker room right now .Coming into this game people were talking and players already planned vacations like Maher Karim who missed the last game and will miss the rest of the playoffs since he thought we were not going to get past the Palm Beavers. We knew we were. We knew we still had a lot of work to do and we still do.
Q: Are the Bulldogs in the Blades of Steel’s heads now?
Koehler: Whether that's true or not doesn't matter to us. Our mental game is to stick through it, stay confidence and calm out there. We know it's going to be crazy when we play them. Just stick with our game, nothing changes. This is what it comes down to.
Q: Any words for your teammates or fans you would like to share with us?
Koehler: As a matter of fact I do. Hey f*ckers listen up! Me and DiFatta are playing every shift no matter what. Alex will play goal and Ted will play lefty today. Also, I have steroids for everyone to take that I got from Maher, straight from wherever the f*ck he is. Tom’s current helmet will be replaced with the beer can helmet to ensure total hydration. Finally, those that are not coming, F*ck You!
