September 20th,
2005-
The Bulldogs are less than 24 hours away
from dropping the puck for the 2004 Fall Season against
the Lion's.
The players are excited. The coaches are excited. The
fans are excited.
Read the newspapers or listen to the talk show hosts and
it is doom and gloom. The Bulldogs dont stand a chance.
The fans dont care. The team is insignificant.
You cant always believe what you read
and you certainly cant consider a talking head an
expert. However, they have all weighed in on the
Bulldogs and their analysis has been less than
favorable. The team is paying attention, but only for
motivational purposes.
We can read. We know what the
expectations are outside, General Manager Alex Martinez
said. Thats what people think and thats what the
perception is. The only way that can change is for us to
change it. But our players know. They know where people
think they are and how good they think we are or arent.
Its motivating. Nobody wants to be picked to not be
very good. But the only way that you can change that is
to play good. Thats the only answer you have.
There was much criticism about the team following their
preseason scrimmage game against Molley Malone's. Members
of the media said and wrote look at all the empty
seats, the fans are jumping ship.
Taking a closer look at that night paints a different
picture. The Bulldogs had less than half the team show,
three new players played with the team for the first
time, not to mention one of the three that played ended
up leaving the team and jumping to another.
The point is, Bulldog fans should be excited about the
season. They have a young team to follow and remain as
passionate and supportive as ever. You can scan the
message boards on chicagobulldogshockey.com to see for
yourself.
The players are ready. The coaches are
ready. And clearly the most passionate fans in the
Hockey are ready. Its time to drop the puck. Move over
NHL, the Bulldogs 2004 Fall season is here.
