Bulldogs Recap the Week

July 22nd, 2005- The Chicago Bulldogs organization had a very busy week, with exhibitions games, tournament preparations, roster moves, signing's and yes the end of EAHL season. Anyway, let’s recap.

Roster movement was needed this past week to clear up salary and make room for incoming players. Brad Cornis, the long time Bulldog announced his retirement. The writing was on the wall as Brad was getting sick way too many times and kept using the same excuses and missing many games. Management finally approached Cornis, when he used "My Dog died" for the 4th time in the same month. He finally admitted to Management that he is retiring effective immediately.

Joey V. F. as most fans already know, was in an incident where a homeless man lost his life. Joey was injured himself and missed Monday's game and has been suspended 1 one game by the team for the homicide. He will be reinstated on 07/25/05.  General Manager  Alex Martinez made this comment "I believe that a one game suspension is more than enough time to give Joey time to think on what he did. We the Bulldogs support Joey and are behind him 100%".

Other roster move's this week included reassignments for Anthony Michele's, Kurt Swanson and Brad Avi back to the Mexican League.

To help raise the possible legal cost for Joey F.V., the Bulldogs and the Molly Malone's agreed to hold a fund raiser game this past Wednesday at the Edge Ice Arena. The game against these two teams was competitive with both teams giving their best. The game finished with the Bulldogs winning 4-3 and both teams showing the respect they have for each other, shaking hands after the game and wishing each other luck in the future, now that the EAHL will no longer exist after this season.

Unfortunately the Bulldogs vs. Molly Malone's game raised only $20, enough for the Bulldogs to drink down a case after the game in the parking lot. "Sorry Joe".

Finally, the Bulldogs signed free agent Jeremy Campbell to a one year contract this past Wednesday after both parties agreed to terms. Campbell, who was formally with the Phantoms, led the Phantoms with 19 points (11 goals, 8 assists) this past season. Campbell will be wearing #28 and will make his debut with the Bulldogs at the 2005 Czechoslovakia Cup tournament next week.
