Martinez announced that the roster will remain the same with few exceptions. Thirteen of the fourteen players return from last season’s squad with only Arnie Becker, who was abruptly released last week, being the sole exclusion. Becker was replaced by Brad Avi, who will begin the season on the Injured Reserve list, due to a torn ACL he suffered when he fell off of a fire ladder. This leaves the ‘Dogs’ with only twelve full-time skaters to begin the season.

John Reeg moves to the starting squad, with Kurt Swanson moving to the reserve squad. Swanson’s lower back injury from last season has been bothering him in recent weeks, so he will take it slowly until he fully recovers. Swanson joins returning ‘Bulldogs’ Ryne ‘The Flyin’ Hawaiian’ Gerstner and Tony ‘TNT’ Micheles on the reserve squad.

Mike ‘Coos’ Mancuso will be ready to go on Wednesday, despite a horrific knee injury near the end of last season. He was expected to miss the season, but thanks to modern medicine and Jesus (his personal chef at El Famous Burrito) he rehabbed quickly and is prepared to resume his role with the club.

The Summer League will feature six teams: ‘Bulldogs’, ‘Stars’, ‘Drunken Penguins’, ‘Overtime’, ‘Unknowns’ and the ‘Pan-Pir-ationals’ (a team compromised of rejects from the Panthers, Piranhas, and Nationals).

“Now that we have a winning season under our belts, I expect us to win it all” said GM Alex Martinez. “Although we have some injuries, we have the same core as last season. We also have a tremendous reserve squad with lots of firepower. All I can say is that other teams beware the ‘Bulldogs’!”
