Another Black eye for Adult Hockey

March 22nd, 2006- Well, be careful what you ask for and lessons learned for this Bulldogs team as they participated in their first tournament of 2006 this past weekend at Center Ice of DuPage, in Glen Ellyen.

Excited to be participating in its first AHAI sanctioned tournament, the Bulldogs quickly found out that Adult Hockey still has a long road ahead in being organized and getting things fair and even.

Losing 4-2 to the HNA's "Tops" in the first game was encouraging. The game was close and either team could have won. Then began the usual Hockey politics that seems to be the norm in almost every Adult league.

The Ice Dragons of Darien was the Bulldogs second opponent, wow these guys are soooo good that they played a C2 Division in front of their herd of girlfriends and wives. Clearly a dominant team who entered the tournament under a false level status and ended up winning a C2 Division tournament.

Gutcheck, the Bulldogs last game was no different in regards to being cheats, cheapshots and pussies. Yea, they were a C2 caliber team, but acquired the service of a Midget goalie, because their goalie ass hurt to much from straightening out hooks the night before. No issue that the Bulldogs lost in fact it was a good game and we give props to their goalie who made some nice saves, but the tournament is a 21 and over tourney and they used a player who was under 18.

Again nothing new I guess in the world of "Adult Hockey" as teams need to have glory at any means necessary, cheat, lie or steal. Who is to blame? Well, you can blame teams for being dishonest, but in the end its the fault of the people coordinating the tournament and allowing this to continue to happen time and time again.

If your money is green then your in, is the motto for most of these organizations and its too bad that this happened under the watchful eye of AHAI.

The Good:

  • The Beer- Tones of it...
  • The Tops team... Good even game..
  • Our fans..... thanks for coming out... especially the little Bulldogs fans (Diamonds kids, one pictured below).

"Little Diamond, expressing his opinion."

The Bad:

  • The poor Bulldogs game turn out. Players were MIA and backed out at the last minute.

 The Ugly:

  • Ice Dragons- All I can say is this, Congratulations on winning the AHAI C2 Tournament, I am sure your parents of proud of you and can see that there money was well spent in paying for your hockey, you all have reached your Ultimate goal in life by winning a C2 tournament.
  • Gutcheck- Good game you fat bastards, well worth my stick breaking after I cracked the one nut you have left.
