Bulldogs release statement

January 26th, 2007- (Chicago, IL).-The Chicago Bulldogs Hockey Club, along with its partners and sponsors have spent almost 3 years building an organized Adult hockey team in Illinois. We have participated in local and out of state tournaments, leagues and charity events against some stiff competition. Because we have had success in building this organization we have always been the targets of criticism, from racial blurs to on the ice taunting or fighting, but never have we experience what happened on January 23, 2007.

After a tough game and loss, player Joe Byers of the Barracudas initiated an off ice incident with several Bulldogs as they skated off the ice. The incident was not only NOT handled by the Officials of the game, but also the league staff. Instead the incident was allowed to continue thus having one player suspended. The Chicago Bulldogs respects the decision of the league to suspend this player, but does not agree with it. Joe Byers was not reprimanded for his off ice antics and has clearly given black eye to his team and the league.

Finally, to all the teams in the ASHL, in Romeoville, IL, if there is ever an off the ice issue, call the local Authorities. Don't take action in your own hands.
