 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS RANGERS Date/Time Rink
9 8 05/08/2007 IIC, Romeoville, IL

May 8th, 2007- William Shakespeare couldn't have penned a Bulldogs victory that was more poetic. Trailing the Rangers, 5-2, after the 1st period, defensemen James Senne added to his resume a game winner in overtime and the once dismissed defensemen regained his elite status to give the Bulldogs the IICHL Championship and hoist once again the Stanley Roper Cup.

After dominating the entire 1st period of the game and having at one point a 3 goal lead, the Rangers quickly faded away in the 2nd as the Bulldogs held the line on defense and their offensive machine took over. Goals from Koehler, Darfler, Van Grimbergen and Lionello were key in the Bulldogs comeback.

The 3rd period was a back and fourth run at each team’s respective goalies. The Rangers would send the game into overtime with less than a minute remaining in regulation.

Overtime was very much like the 3rd period, both teams getting their chances, but from out of the blue like GOD talking to Moses a loud voice echoed the arena. “Send it!!!!!” and send it they did, as the Bulldogs defense crashed the Rangers net and James Senne scoring the game winner by a Montague and Reeg pass.

"It's a great story," said Martinez after the game.  Martinez continued "It's the highs and lows of playoff hockey and what a great season these guys had, no quit in any of them, they all played with heart tonight".

The victory gives the Bulldogs their second league Championship in three years of existence and now they will head to Las Vegas for the USA Hockey National Championships.
