January 21st, 2005 With the NHL Owners and the Players still
in a deadlock, some Bulldogs players have decided to
stay on and continue to play in the Federal C- DIVISION
and not worry about the happenings in the NHL. Heres is

Did anyone hear that? That, my friends, was the sound
of hell freezing over. I never thought that I'd see the
day the Bulldogs would win a season opener.
The Chicago Bulldogs won a classic in their
Winter Season debut Monday evening, 4-2 against the
Piranhas. The game was a close contest with each team
exchanging goals to the very last minute of regulation.
An early goal from James Senne (first ever as a Bulldog
on Ice) really jumped started the Bulldogs in the first
period, if James could score, we all could Frank
Lionello yelled from the bench. This put immediate
pressure on the defense, the Bulldogs have never really
lead in the beginning of a game, and they normally come
from behind.
In the second the Piranhas would score for the first
time on an easy break away shot that would go past
goalie Alex Martinez. Surprisingly Martinez was playing
good and giving up only a few rebounds. Again the
pressure was mounting, but Joy F.V. who had plenty of
chances early on would not be denied and would finally
score off a pass from Defenseman Jason Darfler.
Unfortunately the lead was short lived as the Piranhas
would score once more to end the second.
With the game tied at 2-2, both teams would start to
play more physical. Player/ Coach would once again make
a play in the slot and score on a nasty slapper past the
Piranhas goalie. With less than 5 minutes to play the
Piranhas would score on a Power Play goal, on what was a
dumb play by Martinez as he tried to play the puck
behind the net.
In the end the Bulldogs would call a time out, rally and
new comer Arnie Becker would score the game winner.
