 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS Union Park Lounge Lizards Date/Time Rink
8 0 07/19/2006 @ 09:30pm Johnny's Ice House

July 24th, 2006- The Chicago Bulldogs won their fourth consecutive game last Wednesday night at Johnny's ice House and inched closer to the top of the standings by defeating the Union Park Lounge Lizards by a score of 8-0.

The Bulldogs got the scoring started just 3:51 into the game on Joe Van Grimbergen’s 16th goal of the year from no other than Maher Karim.  Not to be outdone, Mike Montague scored a pair, while Brad Lipinski would also show his stuff and get one past the Lizards goaltender. All this in only the first period.

The second period saw the Bulldogs take a 5-0 lead at 8:52 with Mike Montague’s third goal of the game and the “Hat Trick”.

Despite a furious attempt to score and make it a game, the Lounge Lizards had nothing. The Bulldogs took command from the drop of the puck and never let up.

“We usually play down to the competition, but not tonight” commented Mike Mancuso after the game.

Alex Martinez earned the win for Bulldogs making 19 saves and earning his second shut-out of the season.

The Dogs will face the undefeated Reserve One Homes this Tuesday night and look to make another blemish on their record. The Bulldogs tied Reserve One Homes, in their opening night back on April 10th.

The Good:

  • Goaltending: In the last 4 games Alex has giving up only 3 goals.
  • Defense: Despite early season woes, the Bulldogs defenders have stepped up huge, making players pay inside the Bulldogs Zone.
  • Offense, passing and the "No Quit" attitude is really taking these dogs to the next level.

The Bad:

  • None

 The Ugly:

  • Johnny's Ice House: Hands down the facility is build really to suit the average Joe Shmoe hockey player like you and me. Great location, along with some good competition and overall good play is what Johnny's is known for. However, like "Lord of the Flies" even paradise can be operated by incompetent people or should I say "Children".. It takes an average of 15-20 minutes to open the garage doors (poor ref I saw trying to get in) and the  league is managed by people who cant even manage their own band.
