 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS Game Cocks Date/Time Rink
3 11 06/17/2004 The Edge Ice arena

June 17th, 2004: BENSENVILLE, IL Knowledgeable fans of the game of hockey would have really enjoyed the Bulldogs game against the First Place and Undefeated Game Cocks.. It was one of their best performances since the making the transition from Inline Hockey to Ice Hockey. The Bulldogs looked like a real hockey team. They worked hard defensively. Their goaltending was superb. They scored a goal that was the result of a picture perfect pass. They held off a late rally to preserve the close game.  Yes, a true hockey fan would have really appreciated this game.  Of course, all this was just in the first period and the Bulldogs end up losing to the Game Cocks 11-3.

The lone goal of the first period came when Anthony Michele's sent an absolutely perfect pass over to Ryne Gerstner who scored 2 of the 3 goals of the night for the Bulldogs. On the other end of the ice goaltender Alex Martinez faced and incredible fifteen shots and stopped them all but one to hold the Game Cocks to just one goal.

In the second period it was another story, the Game Cocks scored four goals to make it 5-2 going into the third. Once again Ryne Gerstner would score in the Second by another assist from Anthony Michele's.

In the third, the floodgates opened and the Game Cocks would end up scoring another six goals. Martinez finished the game with 25 saves.  Ryne Gerstner was awarded the Player of the Game for the one of bright spots in the game. Other bright spots was Sean O'Connell coming back from a suspension, O'Connell scored in the third period to shut up the Game Cocks Fans who had made their way from Hunters to cheer on the Cocks.

The Good-

  • Allot less shots on goal.
  • Finally meeting Tony Feeney (Welcome aboard Tony).
  • Ryne Gerster leading the team in points in only two games.
  • Beer (John Reeg) thank's for the beer!
  • The massage that Alex and Craig received at Heavenly Bodies before the game.

The Bad-
  • Positioning stills needs to get better. The more experienced players are having to work harder, because some are not yet use to being there for the pass.
  • Less coasting and more skating... keep moving boys.... no cones out there. Also, more shots on goal, please...

The Ugly-
  • Craig taking way too long in the restroom at Heavenly Bodies, he seemed tired when he finally walked out. He was sweating too.
