Bad Streak for the Bulldogs

 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS LEAFS Date/Time Rink
3 6 07/15/2007 IIC, Romeoville, IL

July 17th, 2007- The Chicago Bulldogs are traveling down a road they have not yet followed this season. Bulldogs lost consecutive games for the first time this season against the Leafs 6-3 as they came roaring out of the starting blocks with some quick goals and the Bulldogs could not regroup.

The loss puts the Leafs on top of the Bulldogs as they now drop down to 6th place in the standings.

"Trying not to lose two in a row is an extremely tough task," said Alternate Captain Mike Mancuso. "We need to hunker down now and know that we aren't getting a lot of breaks and we have to work for our opportunities."

The losing streak is the first the Bulldogs have experienced all season long. As the team now waits till the 23rrd  to get back into the swing of  things against the Rams.

"You suffer and there is GOD D*m agony when you lose," said Coach Jules after the game. "The first thing you want to do is walk around and blame every mother f*cker for the different mistakes, when those same mistakes you would overlook in games you win.

Breaking out of a 16-game goal drought, going back to last season, Nolan on paper scored, but in actuality he was no where near the puck. Nolan explains, this tells the tale of the Game with the officiating, I mean I think I was in the penalty box when they gave me the goal. I guess I’m that good that I can score from the sin bin.

Chris Bednarek scored his 22nd career goal (not Nolan) while Joey Koehler scored his 13th and 14th of the season.

"I could have been a little sharper," said goaltender Alex Martinez, who stopped 23-of-29 shots. "I could have had a little bit more awareness on a few more plays."

Martinez continued "We've had some challenges lately, that's for sure. For the most part, we just need to regroup, go on to the next game and finish the season on a positive note."

Notes- Welcome Back Tony!!!!!!

The Good:

  • Chris Bednarek: Chris Bednarek continues to lead the league in Goals (22), Assist (17) and total points (39).. even in losing, this kid is a machine out there on the ice.

The Bad:

  • Offense: Played improved in the second half, but missed some key passes that could have resulted in goals. Can you say practice?
  • Defense: Normally the Bulldogs strong side, fell short..
  • Goaltending: Martinez was pulled in the 1st, but had to go back in, team forget they only had one goalie.
  • Officiating: Was not all that bad in the 1st, but when the second ref showed up? Mama mia…

 The Ugly:

  • The Cup: Chris’s new cup is still an issue- Seems that Chris ended up buying the new Cock Blocker at Fredrick's of Hollywood instead of Gunzo’s.

  • The Bitching: Apparently some of Bulldogs do not watch enough NHL hockey to understand the game, this from 2 guy's on the inside or was it one?
