 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS OLD TYME Date/Time Rink
9 6 06/01/2007 IIC, Romeoville, IL

May 15th, 2007- The Chicago Bulldogs have dominated the past two games with young fast players and facing an undefeated first place team this past Friday night, the Bulldogs found themselves winning a dogfight, 9-6 giving Old Tyme the first loss of the season.

"The game was open for the taking by either team," said Bulldogs Captain Joey F*cken V.. "It was just a battle of wills."

It didn't hurt that the hockey gods smiled on the Bulldogs this off season obtaining young fast players. The veterans are also playing better and contribute when the game matters the most.

For the most part the Bulldogs dominated the game, but things got a bit hairy midway through in.

With the score tied at 3-3 in the middle of the second period, an altercation involving goaltender Alex Martinez erupted as the awkward looking Gordon “the Mullet” Lurie took an “after the whistle“ shot when he was off sides.

“Hey, all I did was give it right back to him” said Martinez, “next time I’ll just sit their and let the puck hit my throat, that way the rink will be called “The Polish Goalie Ice Area”. Surprisingly Martinez leads the team in penalties.

After the killing several penalties the Bulldogs stepped up their attack scoring three more times ending the second with a comfortable 6-3 lead.

Mike Mancuso, Joey Koehler and Chris Bednarek added the nail to the coffin in the third, but not after Old Tyme made it interesting scoring 3 more goals as everyone and their mother wanted a piece.

In the end the Bulldogs were much younger, faster and better looking.

Notes- Recently re-assigned Tony Feeney who is in England is creating quiet a storm. In the last two games playing for the Manchester Queens, Feeney has scored a total of 5 goals and 5 assist's, including a "hat-trick" this past Saturday night against Humber's Hobbits. We wish Tony the best and await his return.

The Bulldogs would like to officially welcome Joe Hederman as he was brought up from the Bulldogs minor affiliate in Wanabe, Canada.

The Good:

  • Offense: Speed and good passing overall..
  • Defense: Great considering we have guys filling in...
  • Goaltending: Martinez had one of his better games this young season.

The Bad:

  • Refs: Not sure they were calling at times... bad performance, but not ugly this time.

 The Ugly:

  • "Old Tyme's "The Mullet: Throughout time, no single group of people have respected mullets more than rednecks, that is, besides hockey players..
