 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS WARRIORS Date/Time Rink
2 7 05/09/2007 IIC, Romeoville, IL

May 11th, 2007- In a game that featured a playoff-like atmosphere from a sellout crowd and the hoisting of Chicago Bulldogs Stanley Roper Cup banner to the rafters, the Warrior’s rained on there parade taking the Spring/Summer league opener 7-2.

"It's nice to get that first game out of the way," said Bulldogs rookie Chris Benarek. "I was thrown to the wolves tonight and should be ready to get back out there next week".

Chris Benarek and Mike Mancuso were the beneficiaries of the Bulldog’s offensive strategy against the Warriors. On both goals in regulation, the Bulldogs moved the puck laterally between defensemen at the point and shot it past a “hot” Warriors goalie, which stopped 38 of 40.

Bednarek and Mancuso seemed to be in the right place at the right time.

"You have to take what they give you," said Mancuso. Mancuso also commented on being named Alternate Captain "To me it shows the team kind of think of me [as a leader]," said Mancuso. "It's always nice to be rewarded in different ways. Even though we lost our opener, it's nice to know, especially when you've been in the organization from day one."

The Bulldogs weathered a serious storm in the last the ten minutes of play, getting out-shot 13-7 and Martinez stopping most of them.

"We didn't come out very well and I thought they got lucky tonight" said Van Grimbegen. "The ref was blinded by old age and again their goalie bailed them out."

Look for the Bulldogs to get their first win on Monday before heading to Vegas and play for the USA Hockey National Championships.
