Bulldogs Drop Opener

 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS BLADES Date/Time Rink
1 9 09/12/2005 American

September 12th, 2005- The Chicago Bulldogs kicked off the 2005-2006 Fall campaign NOT where they left off last season. Playing an all-around BAD game the Bulldogs get downed by the Blades, 9-1, in the teams' season opener.

The Blades, which captured first place in the CIHAL this past summer season, appeared poised to challenge the Bulldogs, combining offensive skills and tight defense to reduce their effectiveness.

The Bulldogs  were unable to convert on any of their opportunities, while the Blades played poised and took advantage of the many "man" advantage play through out the entire game.

The Blades' young forward's opened the scoring in the first period and took 2-0 early lead.

In the second period Bulldogs James Senne, looking to play after missing the Championship game last season, made the game closer after taking a nice cross-ice feed from Joe Van Grimbergen early in the frame.

That would be all the offense the Bulldogs could muster on the night, as the Blades tightened up the neutral zone and allowed few scoring opportunities from that point forward to win the game.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back and earn their first win of the season on Friday, when they take on the Black Bears

The Good:

  • The Bulldogs stepped up big allowing only 2 power play goals and killing off the others. For the most part of the game the Bulldogs were on a man disadvantage due to Ryne Gerstner and Jason Darlfer game ejection in the 2nd period.

The Bad:

  • The Bulldog misses several chances to score. Bad passing, or not catching the passes at all. The Bulldogs looked out of shape and at times looked defeated even when the game was close. Goaltending also needs to get back to where it belongs.

 The Ugly:

  • The refs... these two bozo's acted as though they were reffing a mite game.. "Don't touch him, don't look at him", perhaps they had boyfriends on the other team.

Player of the Game:

James Senne: James scored the lone goal of the game and played many minutes due to lack of Defensemen.

Next up: The Bulldogs will look to bounce back and earn their first win of the season on Friday, when they take on the Black Bears
