 GAME RECAP

June 13th, 2005- The first match up between the ‘Bulldogs’ and the ‘Drunken Penguins’ at the beginning of the season was a hard fought, hard hitting war between the two clubs. What followed was a war of words between the two teams building up to the much anticipated rematch Monday night. With all of the hype you would have expected more, but in the end the ‘Bulldogs’ won it in a laugher, 9-2.

It wasn’t even close. The ‘Bulldogs’ opened up the game by scoring five times in the first period. Joey V. scored three times and Ryan Gerstner scored twice to make up for his miserable shooting in last week’s game. The ‘Penguins’ were only able to muster three shots on goal in the period, with one lucky trickle to put them on the board.

The ‘Penguins’ came as close as they would for the entire night. The scored again early in the second period to narrow the gap, but the ‘Bulldog’ defense kept them from creating any sort of attack. The ‘Dogs’ responded by tacking four unanswered goals. The goals were scored by Ted Markos, Frank Lionello, Gerstner and Joey V, with the latter two grabbing hat trick honors in the process.

Although there was no scoring in the third period, the Penguins’ pulled out the old bag of dirty tricks. They began to throw some cheap shots and nasty hits, aimed mainly at the Karim brothers. Why they targeted these two is still a mystery. “If that’s how they want to play, I’ll teach them to f*** with us” said Maher Karim. “I’m not exactly sure why they targeted me, but I won’t be so kind and restrained next time. I looked at the schedule and we’ll be facing these clowns again in a few weeks. I aint nobody’s punching bag!”

“It was an easy night for me” said Alex Martinez. The defense limited these guys to fifteen shots on goal and prevented them from being any kind of offensive threat. After the game, I got several excuses from their team about how we got lucky. It seems every time we play them, they attempt to justify their defeats by letting us know how lucky we are or how they somehow caught a bad break. I say, give it a rest and move on, you’ll get another shot at us.”

The ‘Bulldogs’ improve to 4-0 having beaten their last three opponents by a huge margin. Additional practice has helped these guys improve tremendously. The road to the cup isn’t going to be easy, but the ‘Dogs’ sure are making it look simple.
