February
13th,
2006-
In a
match up featuring the last two undefeated clubs in the
league, Thursdays game was supposed to be thriller.
Instead, it was more of a farce as the Bandits smashed
the Bulldogs 9-1. The loss represented the Dogs
worst loss since last seasons opener.
The
Bulldogs looked like a deflated team inside the games
first three minutes as the Bandits took a quick 3-0
lead. The score would be 5-0 by the end of the first
period and 7-0 before the Bulldogs scored their first
(and only) goal. Mike Montague slammed in a rebound from
Sal Karim. Unfortunately by then, it was too little, too
late.
Despite
having several opportunities, including several on the
power play, the Dogs failed miserably in execution.
All of those hours of practice, working on so many
different scenarios, didnt help the team on this night.
This
game was a much need kick in the d*ck for everyone,
said Alex Martinez. The bottom
line we all played bad and thats starting with me. Who
Needs practice? We all do. Also, I must address
something we all lack. Its called communication and it
is so important. From practice to the game to the locker
room, there is no reason we shouldnt be able to talk
openly with one another without being overly critical.
No one on this team is good enough to talk down to
anyone of his mates. As a team we only have one
requirement and that is to give 100% on every shift,
every play and every practice. If everyone displays
that, we should all be able to leave the locker room
with our heads up, win or lose.
