 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS SCORPIONS Date/Time Rink
1 7 11/19/2007 Addison Ice Arena

November 19th, 2007- Hoping to turn around a dismal season, the ‘Bulldogs’ bulked up their roster by adding four more players, but it didn’t help as they were easily beaten by the “Scorpions’, a team with only six skaters, 7-1.

The ‘Scorpions’ came out as the more aggressive team in the first period, by controlling the puck and attacking the net. They jumped to an early 2-0 lead, as the ‘Dogs’ looked like a team struggling to keep pace. They did, however, close to within one when Joey F.V. skated past several defenders to slip one past the ‘Scorpions’ goalie.

Trailing 2-1, midway through the second period, the ‘Bulldog’ offense forgot how to skate, pass and shoot. The defense made too many mistakes against a team that made very few. The Scorpions scored two goals in a five minute span to take a 4-1 advantage and the rout was on.  The ‘Bulldogs’ looked like a bush league team playing against a squad of NHL All-Stars.

The ‘Scorpions’ added three more goals in the final period to hand the ‘Bulldogs’ their fourth loss in five games this season. “We played like crap” said Alex Martinez. “There is no back-checking, no communication on the ice and no overall hustle from some of these bums. The long shifts from the offensive players is killing us and will be addressed. WE NEED PRACTICE!”

The ‘Dogs’ are in for a long season if they don’t turn things around and work out their kinks in practice.

The Good:

  • None:

The Bad:

  • Passing: The ‘Bulldogs’ fans have seen better passing by Rex Grossman these days.
  • Shooting: The club takes too many ill advised, low percentage shots, especially in three-on-one or three-on two situations.
  • Hustle: Not from this squad?
  • Heart: This team has not had any since their last full season at ASHL. It’s time for this group to work out their issues (both personal and professional) in practice. More importantly, each individual player needs to dig deep within to find that passion for winning.

 The Ugly:

  • R. LeFebvre of the ‘Scorpions:  In a poor display of sportsmanship, LeFebvre grabbed the cage of Ryne Gerstner and tried to yank him down. After the refs ejected him from the game, he skated over to the penalty box and slipped, taking a nasty fall. Although he wasn’t hurt, it must have been a bruise to his ego to fall flat on his face (in front of the crowd and both benches) like a clumsy, drag queen walking in high heels for the first time.
