Bensenville, IL-(November 2,
2004) BENSENVILLE, IL-. As voters watched the polls
the Bulldogs hit the ice hoping to make a run for the
playoffs. That run slowed to a jog and eventually to a
crawl. The Dogs Fell 6-1 to the number one Nationals
late Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs played smart keeping their players fresh
with short shifts and good positioning. The first period
the Nationals controlled the puck but were warded off by
the Dogs defensive efforts. Player Tony Micheles
recalls "It was a tough game, the ice was slippery and
the puck was black." Shortly after Micheles was taken
away for a mild concussion.
The second period was much like the first. The Dogs
offense was lackluster failing to carry the puck farther
than the blue line. A total of 3.5 shots were taken the
entire game. Nationals goalie was awakened second period
by a puck of the John Thomas the rebound put top shelf
by Sal Karim. But for the Bulldogs, it was the last of
the game.
The third period started off with two quick goals
from the Nationals. The Bulldogs never recovered as the
third period started to get rough. In classic bulldog
style the third period becomes a firestorm of flying
elbows, tripping, and Edmonton two-handers. The game
concluded with players shaking hands that quickly turned
to shaking fists as shouting escorted players to the
locker room. "Violence has never been condoned by any
players or staff of the Chicago Bulldogs, we attend
weekly sensitivity meetings" Joe Vangrimbergen explains
to reporters. Later goaltender Alex Martinez was seen
after the game drinking his way to the playoffs.
The Good:
-Good positioning and Defense throughout the game.
-No helmets were removed during game play.
The Bad:

equipment.

-Tony Micheles new dew.
