Bensenville, IL-(September
27, 2004) The Bulldogs showed up, but their
opponents came to play on Monday. The result was an
embarrassing 12-0 loss to the Nationals.
Despite their talent level, the Bulldogs again
displayed poor positioning, bad passes and a low number
of shots on goal. In fact, the Bulldogs went an entire
period before they finally put a single shot on
net---not exactly the type of offense youd want to see
if you plan on competing in this league.
"I played like Swiss cheese and I will get a practice
going. Sometimes its tough to get in sync when we have
some new players join the team" said Alex Martinez. "We
set our lines, but due to Joeys (Van Grimbergen)
suspension and an illness to Corny (Brad Cornis), we
had to do some last minute improvising. We played hard,
but in the end we just didnt do enough offensively to
get any kind of momentum. We havent played our best
hockey yet, but once we do, youll see a decent winning
streak"
The Bulldogs fall to 0-2 on the young season. If
they havent played their best hockey yet, they better
start in the next couple games or else they can kiss the
playoffs good bye.
The Good:
-The Bulldogs depleted defense did an admirable job
of clearing the crease and breaking up many plays.
The Bad:
-Positioning: The Dogs could be seen double teaming
the puck handler and playing man-to-man instead of
playing a zone defense-namely on offense, where their
was little fore-checking and minimal coverage at the
point.
-Passing: The Bulldogs committed a variety inaccurate
and ill-timed passes, which led to turnovers.
-Shots: Although the shots for yesterdays games were
not recorded, the Nationals out-shot the Dogs by an
estimated 5:1 ratio.
The Ugly:
-The Nationals player who looked like a gay version
of Ron Jeremy.
-The Nationals player who looked like Mike Piazzas
mentally challenged brother.
