 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS TOPS Date/Time Rink
6 7 11/26/2007 The Edge Ice Arena

November 28th, 2007- The Chicago Bulldogs attempted a late comeback, but ultimately, ran out of time in a 7-6 loss to the Tops this past Monday night at The Edge Ice Arena.

Joey Koehler scored the first period’s lone goal for the Bulldogs when he beat the Tops net-minder at 14:23. The Tops would take the period though, capitalizing on key defensive errors from the Bulldogs and getting two goals past Bulldogs goalie “Martinez”.

The second period was not just a defensive collapse by the Bulldogs, but some major lack of hustle to the puck.  Defenseman Joey Koehler did keep it close adding his 2nd and 3rd goal of the game, while Ryan Scanlon score a goal of his own. The Tops also took the second period with the help of two power play goals.

Being down by only two goals the Bulldogs rallied in the third and made it close.  A goal from Frank Lionello and a short handed goal by Captain Joe F*cking V., but in the end they would have to settle for another 1 goal defeat.

Joey F*cking V commented after the game, “Some of us are getting tired of the losing, but really we are beating ourselves. Not to mention players not showing up or calling in at the last hour that they will not be at the game”. Joe continued, “Example, Maher was not there, leaving the team unaware on when and where to send it during the game”.

Lionello who scored his first goal of the season missed a key opportunity when he missed on an open net situation. “I guess I just couldn’t deliver the pizza” he commented.

After the tough loss the Bulldogs are in search of a new Head Coach. Seth Karim has already submitted his resume, but the Bulldogs Management feels that three brothers on the bench are more than enough. Coach Jules in the meantime will be move into a consultation role as he needs to be kept on the payroll in order to avoid an affirmative action lawsuit.

Notes- the Chicago Bulldogs have called up Ted Markos who has been playing with the Lomas Verdes Falcons in the Mexican Hockey League. Since 2006 Markos has played 31 games with the Falcons and has compiled 1G, 12A and 116PIM’s. As a Bulldog Markos played 10 games while compiling 9G and 8A.  Marko’s will return to action in December and is expected to report to the Bulldogs management team as soon as we able to sneak him across the Mexican border.

The Good:

  • Offense: Scoring goals is not the problem with the Bulldogs this season.

The Bad:

  • Hustle: Once again these overweight pre-Madonna's seem to be losing the battles on the ice for the puck. Bet if it was a ham sandwich instead of a puck they would be all over it.
  • Defense: This has been a problem since the first game of the season. Overall the defensemen are not communicating and the position is becoming a revolving door.
  • Goaltending: Needs to be more consistent, especially in close games. Martinez is currently trying different pre-game preparations.

 The Ugly:

  • #1 of the Tops:  Overall a good game played by both sides, but there is always someone or somebody trying to be smarter the the rest. Warning to all teams.. Wear your Cup, this nut grabber seems to target your private areas with his stick.
