May 21st,
2008-
So much for
the demise of the Chicago Bulldogs. Not only are they
headed back to another League finals, but they're again
looking like the club that dominated the regular season
as
Joe Kolodziejczak scored the game winning goal in
overtime to knock out Iradd 5-4.
"We were
relentless," Markos said after the game. "It was just a
solid game by both teams and obviously the difference in
the hockey game was the goaltending, Alex kept us in it
the entire time.... We're back in another League
finals and it sounds great for us."
Bulldogs goalie Alex Martinez didn't have to do much the
first period, then got busy in the second
and third. Martinez improved to 15-1-1 in the
DAHL including the postseason.
The 1st period
the Chicago Bulldogs dominated for the most part, until
a turn over lead to Iradd scoring and drawing first
blood. It wasnt until near the end of the 1st when the
Bulldogs scored as Ted Markos would put one behind
Iradds goalie from an assist coming from Scott Gaczorek.
Still having
the moment of the 1st, the Bulldogs would scored right
away taking a one goal lead as this time Scott Gaczorek
would light up the lamp. Iradd preasured the Bulldogs
and noticed the flaws in the Bulldogs armor. They would
scored with less than two minutes remainging to tie it
up at 2 goals a piece.
With the game
all tied up Iradd seemed to be getting an edge going
into the third. That momentum was short lived as again
Ted Markos would score, but wait not so fast, Iradd
would scored moments later to tie it up, no wait Danny
Bednarek would Scored to take the lead, no wait Iradd
would again tie it up after the Bulldogs failed to clear
the puck out of thier zone.
Looking like a
heavyweight fight, both the Bulldogs and Iradd would
settle it in overtime.
The plan was
simple for the Bulldogs going into thier first overtime
this season, shots and goal and keep the shifts short.
Well, it was short as 6 seconds into overtime Joe
Kolodziejczak would take a pass from Joe Koeheler and
beat Iradd goalie for the win.
The Bulldogs
now move on to face Puckin Awesome in the DAHL
Championship on Wednesday May 20th @ 10:40PM @ The
Darien Sportsplex.

The
Good:
The additions to
this season have paid off, Scotty, Farias Crazy
Karl have made up for the lose of the Bulldogs top
two centers..
Defense-
A few bo bo's almost cost them the game, but they
held in tough and got the job done.
Goaltending-
Made a game saver near the end of the third, solid
enough for the win.
The
Bad:
-
Ringers?-
Possible... but in the end the Bulldogs won.
The
Ugly:
-
The
Phantom-
The Bulldogs have allot of respect for
officials, but when they blow it they blow
it good. Chris Bednarek will be out for at
least 30 days for what will be known as the
"Phantom Kick" did the ref see it? who
knows, so now we await for the next AHAI
hearing.
