 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS Sabotage Date/Time Rink

May 19th, 2008- So much for the talk that the Chicago Bulldogs couldn't advance past the 1st round in the play-offs. So much for the speculation that the Chicago Bulldogs couldn't score big postseason goals without there two top centers. Well Diamond, Gaczorek, Koehler, the Bednarek brothers and even Nolan scored to advance to the DAHL Semi-finals after beating Sabotage 6-1.

Darren Diamond began a rush into Sabotage's end with a pass from Joe Koehler late in the 1st period. The Bulldogs did seemed a little off being without Captain Van Grimbergen and Ryan Scanlon who were both out with injuries.

Farias. The last time we saw Farias he was nursing stitches to the chin and looking like Jay Leno's stunt double.

The 3rd period did get a bit scary as the Bulldogs found themselves in penalty trouble. After shaking off, Sabotage's Power play's, the Bulldogs close the deal on lead. Chris Bednarek, Scott Gaczorek, Danny Bednarek and Bill Nolan all scored in the final frame of the game.

"We were facing a very good hockey club, but lucky for us we have some young legs playing without fear," Tony Feeney said after the game. "They didn't get tired - I thought they were going to get tired and they didn't get tired. They keep coming, keep coming."

"We got ourselves into trouble again with penalties and there were some momentum swings because of that," Koehler said. "We were able to manage that and take the win."

The Bulldogs now face the winner of the Sharks and Iradd in round 2 of the DAHL Playoffs.

The Good:

  • Offense- No problem here, took them a bit, but sealed the deal in the third.
  • Defense- The most dominant Defense in Bulldogs history?
  • Goaltending- Only as good as his Defense.

The Bad:

  • The Injuries'- This is the only thing from stopping the Bulldogs to win it all. Losing Joey FV and Ryan will hurt. Yet to be seen how bad though.

 The Ugly:

  • Koldziejczak's tooth job- The Bulldogs are currently looking for a Dentist to sponsor the team. Between Ted, Ryan, Alex and now Joe, the team would have already paid the sponsorship cash as these four have paid visits to the dentist. The latest was Joe as he again took one to the mouth, losing 3 teeth. What he do when it happened? Again he went to the locker room, took a dump, stopped the bleeding, wiped, cut off one index finger and headed out to finish the game.
