 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS Palladium Date/Time Rink

April 25th, 2008- Prepare to raise another banner, the Chicago Bulldogs have officially secured the best record in the DAHL as Mike Mancuso scored the game winner late in the second period giving the Bulldogs a 5-2 come-from-behind win over Palladium Thursday night.

Back on the ice since losing their first game of the season this past Monday, the Bulldogs were glad they were able to bounce back and take control of the game.

"We were waiting for a game like the one we had Monday," Ryan Scanlon said. "We weren't playing bad, we just couldn't score the goals or hold the lead. Today, we finally scored a few goals and played well defensively."

The first period was not looking well for the Bulldogs as Palladium attacked early and took the lead at the end of the first frame 2-1.

In the second, frustration was starting to kick in along with stamina issues for Palladium as there short bench started to take penalties. This allowed the Bulldogs to fair off Palladiums momentum and start a rhythm of there own.

Near the end of the second Ted Markos scored his 8th goal of the season to tie it up and assisted on Mike Mancuso's goal which would turn out to be all they needed for the winner.

"I think we were out-shot in the first and second period" said goaltender Martinez, " Defense allowed very little odd man breaks in the second and allowed me to clearly see the puck coming my way".

In the third, the Bulldogs finished off Palladium as Karl Hayes added a 'Knuckle Puck" goal while speed demon Scott Gaczorek netted his 11th goal of the season.

We talked a lot about just getting to the net and shooting the puck," Bulldogs Captain Joe Van Grimbergen said. "We got off to a bad start, but we settled down and once we did it was no thing, like a chicken wing."

The Bulldogs now have one game to go before the regular season is over and it will be against a very game and higher division team known as "Blue Thunder".

The Good:

  • Offense- After a slow start the Offense figured Palladium out and came through.
  • Defense- Another slow starter, but the boys held there own allowing only what Martinez could see.
  • Goaltending- Decent in key moments and good enough for the win.

The Bad:

  • No Show's- Come on boys, its almost playoffs...

 The Ugly:

  • Koldziejczak's Nose Job- This kid is tough as nails, makes Maher look like a girly- man as he took a hit that busted his nose. He skated to the locker room, gave himself three stitches, took a dump and headed back on to the ice to finish the game.
