Bulldogs Trounced by MIB

 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS MIB Date/Time Rink
4 13 12/09/2006 @ 09:45pm IIC, Romeoville, IL

December 11th, 2006- The ‘Bulldogs’ playing the first game of two in three nights, got spanked by ‘MIB’ 13-4. It was their worst beating in almost eighteen months.

‘MIB’ attacked first; scoring less then a minute and a half into the game. Mike Mancuso tied it up for the ‘Dogs’ five minutes later, but ‘MIB’ scored four unanswered goals in the period to take a commanding 5-1 lead. They added one more to start the second period, putting the club in a deep hole.

The ‘Dogs’ battled back however. They tallied three goals in the period to close the gap to 6-4, giving themselves a fighting chance. Second period goals were scored by Mancuso, Jason Darfler and Eric Carr (who made his Bulldog debut on offense)

Unfortunately, their offensive output went kaput after that. ‘MIB’ opened up and fired fifteen shots; scoring on seven to diffuse any ideas of a ‘Bulldog’ rally.

“I’m very bitter right now” said Alex Martinez. “We played good hockey tonight and skated hard. But when you pit a team of amateurs and recreational players against a team utilizing the services of former professionals and players from a higher talent pool, you aren’t going to stand a chance. I am disappointed that the ASHL hasn’t monitored rosters to limit this kind of disparity.”

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that in two fewer games than the rest of the league, ‘MIB’ leads the ASHL in point differential (+46), fewest goals allowed (37),  and the highest goals per game average (9.22). Why hasn’t the league commissioner stepped in yet and fixed this problem?

At 7-4-0, the ‘Bulldogs are slipping in the standings. If they continue this downward trend, their recent collapse (2-3 in their last five games) can be blamed on a lack of focus and practice.

The Good:

  • NONE

The Bad:

  • McGruff Jerseys: While most of the players favor the “Caca” jerseys as the alternate uniform, it was their new, goofy looking, McGruff Crime Dog jerseys that made their debut on this night. Perhaps a 13-4 loss will force them to rethink their uniform choice in the future; especially considering their 9-2 lifetime record wearing the “cacas”.

 The Ugly:

  • Monty’s Playboy Moves: After Saturday’s game, most of the players went out to BWW with several fans. One of those fans was Mindy Walters. Monty struck out big in their earlier meeting (Tony Feeney’s wedding), but sought redemption on this night. Unfortunately, acting like the strong, silent type did very little for his game. Instead, he came off as a stiff with the personality of a couch.
