Bulldogs Out Hustled the Huskies

 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS HUSKIES Date/Time Rink
7 1 11/14/2006 @ 009:15pm IIC, Romeoville, IL

November 21st, 2006- After two consecutive loses the ‘Bulldogs’ finally can add another win for a total of six for the season. John Reeg returns to the Bulldogs as a rostered player and Brad Lipinski makes his debut this season. The ‘Bulldogs’ played a solid game for the most part. The game started out with both sides playing hard and both teams battled wanting to put the first point on the board. Joe Koehler broke the silence and through the ‘Huskies’ defense with a goal just shy of two minutes into the first period, assisted by Joey V. A couple minutes later Mike Montague followed up with a goal of his own. With almost six minutes remaining in the first Koehler scored his second goal, again assisted by Joey V., to end the period with a score of 3-0. The ‘Huskies’ skated to their bench frustrated at the ‘Bulldogs’, the refs, and each other needing to regroup.

The ‘Bulldogs’ started the second period hoping to continue their onslaught, but to there stupefaction Mike Montugue received a 10 minute misconduct penalty for giving the referee a piece of his mind on a questionable call. That took away part of the ‘Bulldogs’ momentum allowing the ‘Huskies’ score their first goal. Unfortunately, for the ‘Huskies’, that would be their only goal of the night against the ‘Bulldogs’. Shortly after, Koehler put his third goal in through the goalies five-hole giving him a hat trick (assisted by James Senne). Seconds later Frank Lionello put another goal for the ‘Dogs’ (assisted by Senne & Montague) giving them a commanding lead of 5-1. With the ‘Bulldogs’ all pumped up the ‘Huskies’ could do all they could do to detract them. In came the flying elbows and the pushing, shoving, slashing, tripping, you name it you saw it. Unfortunately, for the ‘Bulldogs’ this time around, the refs only saw it when the ‘Dogs dished out the pain. Much to the refs bewilderment, the ‘Dogs’ were able to kill all of their penalties. The rest of the period was a stalemate and ending with the ‘Bulldogs’ leading 5-1.

Koehler again started out the period with a forth goal, this one short handed. That would be his final goal of the night. The penalties kept racking up on both sides in the third period. Jason Darfler found an opportunity skating with the puck past the opposition and whizzed one past the goalies head on a power play, his sixth of the season, for a final goal ending the game at 7-1. All in all a good game for the ‘Bulldogs’, everyone played hard and hustled on both sides of the ice.

That brings the season to 6-2 for the ‘Dogs’. The ‘Bulldogs’ will face off next against a more worthy team the ‘Gear Daddies’ who are also 6-2.

The Good:

  • Totally different team- Hustle, Heart and Determination coming from the Bulldogs.

The Bad:

  • The one Official... you know who you are. Abuse of Players from an Official..?? Very possible

 The Ugly:

  • 2nd Week in a Row- Sinner?: In the wake of the Ted Haggard gay-sex scandal, one would assume that his disciple, vice-evangelist pastor Jason Darfler, would show a little more discretion with his alternative life-style. Nope. There he was again, flashing his sore thumb to the ‘Dogs’ in the locker room, looking to convert new followers.
  • Huskies Goalie- You made some nice saves, but in the end the holes in your gloves were as big as your mouth. Good game Swiss, next time back it up, chicken shit.
