 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS WARRIORS Date/Time Rink
6 5 10/18/2006 @ 09:15pm IIC, Romeoville, IL

October 19th, 2006- Conventional wisdom suggested that you take the Bulldogs out of the ASHL, where they have won five consecutive games to begin this season, the club still needs to play much better, as they again inched a 6-5 win last night over the mediocre Warriors.

Throw conventional wisdom out the window.

For the first time since the EHAL season, back in the summer of 2005, the Chicago Bulldogs are 5-0 and have outplayed every team so far. But sterling efforts by the Bulldogs defense and goaltending have kept the Bulldogs in every game.

The triumph pushes the Bulldogs record to a league best 5-0-0 and a five-game winning streak.

“He made some key saves,” Lionello said of Martinez’s performance, who has allowed just 14 goals in his last five starts. “That’s what we needed tonight.”

The only blemish on the night for Martinez was a 5 goal third period meltdown that almost resulted in a disaster. The Warriors almost evened the score, because of a change of game plan to start the third period.

The Bulldogs will go for number six next Tuesday night against the Green Berets, which have only one lose this season.

The Good:

  • Team Captain Joe Van Grimbergen scored a pair of goals while James Senne knocked in a pair himself.
  • The Bulldogs is one of three undefeated teams left in the ASHL.

The Bad:

  • Warm Beer? WTF??? Lets get with the program people.

 The Ugly:

  • There will be no Lord of the Flies b/s here.. stay with the lines unless noted by the Captains. Two periods we dominated.. then all of a sudden things changed and allot of shit opened up for the other team. All of a sudden we were taking shots from the points.. that means offense did not cover the points... This is becoming a bit of a problem as of late.. if you cannot come back then perhaps take shorter shifts. Also, I encourage the defense to be aggressive.. Wingers... when that happens, cut loose and cover his spot on D.
