 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS RAIDERS Date/Time Rink
4 8 04/03/2007 IIC, Romeoville, IL

March 9th, 2007- For the third week in a row, the ‘Bulldogs’ faced a sub-par team. For the third straight game they went down in defeat, this time losing to the ‘Raiders’ 8-4.

The game was never really close. The ‘Raiders took a commanding 4-1 lead into the third period. Despite the ‘Dogs’ scoring three in the third, the ‘Raiders’ answered right back with four more of their own.

Rough game” Said Alex Martinez. “The goalie sucked, the defense was drunk and the backstop saw more shots on goal that the opposing goalie. I apologize to the fans. You will be seeing some changes as we need to start getting our act together for playoffs and Vegas. I am also disappointed that we have not practiced. Believe me, it shows in every game.

“You may not see some of our full time players for next season. This means they may be retained as subs, sent down to the minors or outright released. I’m not sure about all of this yet, but players beware--missing games and last minute absences do not sit well with the club. You are doing your team an injustice by having them perform more than they should. That usually leads to losses, injuries and overall bad sh*t”.

“Several players [free agents] have contacted me with an interest to join the team. It’s ridiculous that I continue to hold onto players that refuse to make an honest effort to improve the team. I know that several players have outside commitments and I can totally respect and understand. However, some have no justification other than Mickey Mouse excuses. I will look at this in the next few weeks and decide what is best for the team moving forward.”

Could this be the end of the ‘Bulldog’ era? Stay tuned.

The Bad:

  • Passing: Horrible breakout passes and horrible puck movement in the attacking zone.
  • Hustle: No hustle and no heart.
  • Positioning: Playing out of position was the ‘Dogs’ biggest weakness.
  • Shooting: Despite firing more shots than the ‘Raiders’, the ‘Dogs’ rarely, if ever hit the net.

 The Ugly:

  • An announcement after the game that several players would be released at season’s end.
