Bulldogs celebrate 2007 in style

 GAME RECAP

BULLDOGS Gear Daddies Date/Time Rink
6 4 01/02/2007 IIC, Romeoville, IL

January 4th, 2007- Not used to being long away from the ice rink during the holidays, the Chicago Bulldogs proved once again that there’s nothing like returning in time to ring in the New Year in front of their fans.

Since the formation of the ASHL, good things have happened to the Bulldogs and following Tuesday night’s 6-4 win over the Gear Daddies, they are now 9-5 and kicking off the New Year against a very formidable team.

“We didn’t finish up 2006 the way we would’ve liked,” recalled Martinez of the Bulldogs loss to Full House. “It was good to see us bounce back with such a strong team effort. This is definitely the way we wanted to start the New Year.”

That is especially true for Frank Lionello, who ended the night in style by adding 4 points to his stats and ranking fifth in team point totals of the season.

“I made a lot of resolutions this year, but this wasn’t one of them,” admitted Lionello, “I’m just going to keep giving all I have out there and I hope this will be better year for me.”

After seeing his team put their late-year stumble behind them, Captain Joey F*cken V  is crossing his fingers that Lionello 4 point outburst is only a sign of things to come in 2007.

“Whenever you’re in a slump it isn’t easy,” said Joe . “We took advantage of our chances tonight and who knows, a game like this is sometimes all it takes and this could just be the beginning of something.”

The Good:

  • Offense: The Bulldogs attacked the net relentlessly. While the usual suspects scored, players like Nolan and Monty stepped it up and each scored.

  • Defense: The defense quarterbacked many of the attacks by passing it up the ice to the right man or bringing it home themselves.

The Bad:

  • Darf: Unfortunately Darfs New Years resolution was not keeping his clothes on in the locker room. The last Bulldogs to the locker room sits by Darf.. Sorry John.. hopefully this will motivate everyone to show up early to the games.

 The Ugly:

  • Calamari: Martinez once again tries to sneak this in before the game. Good thing adrenalin holds off the sh*ts.
